VIDEO: Murder suspect in custody, Grady County Sheriff says

Deputies responding to report of homicide in Amber

AMBER —

A suspect in a alleged homicide last night in Amber is in custody, Grady County Sheriff Jim Weir said.

Deputies arrested Steven Thompson this afternoon.

“We believe the homicide happened late Wednesday night,” Weir said.

Grady County Sheriff Office deputies responded to reports of a homicide in Amber shortly after noon today.

Public Relations Officer for the Grady County Sheriff's Office Lisa Hatchett said approximately six deputies  responded to the scene.

Hatchett said there was one deceased victim of an apparent shooting, and Thompson's fiance' Katie Garner is recovering at an Oklahoma City Hospital today after an apparent assault. The deceased victim's name has yet to be released.

Despite reports of a love triangle surrounding the possible murder yesterday, Hatchett said Weir wants to be very careful confirming any information regarding any motive for this crime.

Spokesperson for the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation Brian Rizzi said Sheriff Jim Weir requested the assistance of crime scene agents from OSBI in a homicide investigation on the outskirts of Amber, northeast of Amber-Pocasset High School on County Road 2880.
