Short police chase ends in suspect's death

At 10:29 p.m. on Monday, a man lost control of his motorcycle while evading police on highway 81, south of county road 1510, near Rush Springs resulting in an accident.

He was later pronounced dead from sustaining severe massive internal injuries after being transported, by Medi-Flight, to OU Medical Center.

The driver of the motorcycle was exceeding the speed limit heading northbound on highway 81. A Rush Springs police officer attempted to pull the man over, but he did not stop.

The driver’s failure to stop ensued a pursuit by the Rush Springs Police Department. The driver of the motorcycle was nearing a curve, but did not slow down in time; he lost control of the vehicle and was thrown approximately 85 feet from the area of impact.

According to the affidavit provided by the OHP, the man is believed to have been under the influence of alcohol when the accident took place.

The identity of the man driving the motorcycle is yet to be determined.
