Commissioners join technological revolution

The Grady County Commissioners could soon be making their decisions and projections from virtually anywhere.

IT Director, Russell Nichols reported that there were issues with the current software for the county barn inventory. A recent installation of new software corrupted old data which is vital to the program.

A company called Wolf-Tech has software costing $3,500 that would correct the problem as well as recover the old data.

Nichols said that a representative from ODOT said the data is compatible with the ODOT program. So far, Wolf-Tech has only charged for data, Nichols said.

Nichols said that the county is moving towards using apps on iPads instead of software on PCs.

The commissioners were concerned with the timeframe of the project, since collecting data had gone on nearly 10 years.

He couldn't put a definite timeframe on the project's completion, but that it could be ready in about a year. He said that the new app should be faster and more user friendly than the current software.

Commissioner Mike Lennier said that he was in favor of this project all along and hoped to be able to use the app soon.

The new software was approved. Nichols said that he hoped to get some representatives from Wolf-Tech to attend a commissioner's meeting in the near future to further explain the app.

Last month's sparks in the sky may have caused a spike in E911 calls. George Manning, E911 Coordinator reported that there were 2091 E911 calls. Manning said that the increase was likely due to the 4th of July holiday.

There were several contracts between the Grady County Sheriff's Department and other entities which were approved.

A new contract and lease agreement was made for the North Office for the Grady Sheriff's Department. The office is located next to the Bridgecreek Fire Protection District at no cost to the sheriff or the county, effective Sept. 1, 2013. This is pending approval by the district attorney.
