Man injured in Grand Ave. accident

A Verden man was medi-flighted to an Oklahoma City hospital on Saturday in critical condition after overturning his pickup on Grand Ave. in Chickasha.

According to an Oklahoma Highway Patrol report, David Allen Anderson, 27, was transported to Grady Memorial Hospital by Chickasha EMS and was later transferred to OU Medical Center where he was listed in critical condition with internal injuries.

OHP Trooper Jason Henson of the Grady County Detachment noted in his report that Anderson’s vehicle, a 2003 GMC pickup, was westbound on Grand Ave. a half-mile west of County Street 2790 when it left the roadway to the right, struck a culvert, overturned three times and came to rest in a ditch.

Anderson’s passenger, Raymond Paul Ferris, 27, of Verden, refused treatment at the scene, the report said.

The report listed alcohol/DUI as the cause of the collision and said the odor of alcohol was detected on Anderson. The report also said seatbelts were not in use.

Trooper Shane Fitzwater of the YC Detachment, the Grady County Sheriff’s Office, Chickasha First Responders and fire department also assisted at the scene.
