Fairgrounds starting to spruce up.

The Grady County Fairgrounds beautification project is getting well under way with the delivery of dozens of plants, shrubbery and trees donated for the project by Ross Seed Company in Chickasha.

“We feel very fortunate that Ross is willing to share their excess plants with us,” said Fairgrounds Marketing Director Peggy McMahan.

“We, in turn, can then share them with everyone else. The variety and selection of plants is tremendous and there’s much more here than we ever could have done ourselves.”

McMahan said the Fairboard has hired Richard Franks of Franks Landscaping to help landscape the project.

“We hired a landscaper, took an inventory of plants and will now start working on a plan,” said McMahan. “We’ll rely heavily on his expertise. Hopefully, next we’ll start on the trees and irrigation system.”

McMahan says she hopes to come up with a landscape plan that provides year-round color.
