ALEX_ Tragedy struck the local community Sunday morning when a young man lost his life in a vehicle-pedestrian collision in Alex.
Deputy Sean Knight, of the Grady County Sheriff’s office said, “We received a call that a pedestrian had been struck by a vehicle at approximately 1 a.m. on Sunday. The accident happened near the 700 block of Lake Street. The driver of the vehicle fled the scene and was later arrested for leaving the scene of a fatality accident and is currently being held in the county jail.”
Knight said the driver and the victim left the same party, just prior to the incident.
“We’re unclear how the two knew each other or the extent of their relationship, be it friends or acquaintances. We do know they came from the same party though, and alcohol was present.”
Knight said he could not release the names of those involved, but The Oklahoma Highway Patrol listed alcohol as the cause of a crash in which Bryson Anthony Braziel, 20, was killed.
Troopers said Braziel died after stepping in front of a pickup in an attempt to stop it when he was struck and killed.
The driver of the pickup, Justin Lee Tillman, 20, of Chickasha fled the scene, according to the patrol, and was later arrested.
