Two Thursday burglaries remain unsolved, according to reports from the Chickasha Police Department.
Chickasha police officer Ryan Rahlf was called to 2111 W. Dakota Ave. Thursday morning to investigate the case of a missing safe.
G.W. Williams, the homeowner and the owner of the safe, noticed the safe missing that morning, according to police records.
Williams last used the safe about noon on June 23. He said he kept it underneath the edge of his couch.
Although one of the windows in Williams’ home was broken, Williams said it had been broken for some time.
The broken window was intact enough to where a person could not have made entry through it, according to reports.
The rest of the home did not show any sign of forced entry.
Williams said there had not been anyone else at the residence except him for some time.
Williams’ safe contained $365 in cash which included various older collectible coins, four rings sized to fit a larger hand, the deed to his home and the title to his truck, according to reports.
An attempted burglary also took place Thursday morning at 205 W. Chickasha Ave. when an unknown man tried to break into a silver GMC Yukon, according to reports.
Sherry Jones, who works at that address with the Washita Valley Community Action Council, said she was outside when she heard a noise on the west side of the building.
Jones told police she saw the suspect try to enter the vehicle by pulling on the handle on the driver’s side door, and then tried to reach his hand inside a window of the car that was a few inches open.
The suspect was gone by the time Jones returned to the front of the building, according to reports.
