Nearly 60 guests and 20 volunteers attended the Rock Island Arts Festival fundraiser at the home of Leman and Louise Spoon on Saturday, June 20.
As visitors toured the spacious, well-appointed residence, they were greeted with the delicate sounds of harp music and treated to fine chocolates and pastel melt-in-your-mouth petit fours as well as coffee punch.
In addition to music by harpist Jessica Tate, other entertainment for the event included wine tasting courtesy of Dawn Capp of Woods and Waters Winery in Anadarko and artist Lori Wenninger worked on a portrait.
“The volunteers with RIAF outdid themselves with this event, it was fabulous,” said RIAF volunteer Paige Elliott, wife of Chickasha Mayor Greg Elliott.
“The Spoons’ were so generous to open their home in support of the arts in Chickasha. Many of us drive by and wonder, ‘is the inside as beautiful as the outside?’ Well, many of us now know that it is. I’m looking forward to the art festival in October and am thankful to all the volunteers who are putting these events together.”
“This day would not have been possible without the support of the wonderful RIAF volunteers and Chickasha Area Arts Council members who worked tirelessly,” said Gina Zhidov, RIAF committee chair.
“From the tour of the home, bidding on the fun items of the silent auction, to a single rose handed to each lady as they left, guests seemed to truly enjoy themselves.”
Proceeds from ticket sales to the event were $1,560 with an additional $1,422 raised at the silent auction. The Rock Island Arts Festival will be held at the Rock Island Depot on Oct. 2-3.
