CHICKASHA - Three patrol cars, one detective, and a county K-9 unit responded to Mazzio’s Italian Eatery on Thursday due to the protests of an unhappy customer.

“I am tired of corporations taking advantage of Chickasha,” the protester, Charles Bradley, said. “They have a ‘walk all over’ the little town attitude and I don’t like it.”

Mazzios aparently drew Bradley’s ire because of their delivery policy.

“It all started with them not delivering pizza between two and four in the afternoon,” he said. “When I called up the corporate office in Shawnee to voice my complaint, they were very rude. They said there wasn’t enough business to support delivering during those times and would not change their policy. Then the next time I tried to order a pizza here, I was told Mazzio’s didn’t want my business. All that, after I voiced a complaint. So, I called the police department earlier today and they told me that as long as I was on the sidewalk I wouldn’t have a problem. Now they called in the whole force out here. I’m not hurting anyone. But I am confused about these side walks to nowhere” added Bradley as he pointed out that the sidewalks were only entries from the road and they lead into grass.

“We were called out to keep the peace and determine where Mazzio’s property ends and where the city property begins,” Detective Jaime Gwen of the Chickasha Police Department said.

With the help of a supervisor the responding officers determined that Bradley was not breaking any laws and informed him that Mazzio’s would call the police back out if he trespassed onto their property.

“I have every right to be here and I don’t plan on crossing onto their property,” Bradley said. “When I am done here I will get on my bike and go home. If I can change just one of their customer’s minds to not eat here, then it will all be worth it. I don’t go to work until five tonight and I plan to do just that.”

As the officers left the scene, Bradley made one last comment saying, “And I don’t have anything against this particular branch, it’s the corporate office that has bad customer service.”

The local Mazzio’s would not comment on the allegations made by Bradley saying, “We have no comment, if he has a problem he needs to take it up with our corporate office.”

Customers Cody Weeks and Andrew Long were eating inside when the police arrived.

“I saw all the commotion and wondered what was going on,” Weeks said. “Then I was able to read the guy’s sign. Personally, I think the customer service is always great here. Excellent in my opinion, but I’ve never had to order a pizza between two and four.”

Bradley vowed that this would not be the only day he protests.
