Cox City Baptist hosts bake sale
The Cox City Baptist Church Youth Department will be having a bake sale on Saturday, May 9 at 9 a.m. at the Lindsay Wal-Mart. The youth are trying to raise money for their trip to FAlls Creek Baptist Assembly this summer. We would appreciate your purchases of baked goods or cash donations. Personalized luminarias
planned for Relay
A special part of our Relay for Life night takes places each year with a time to honor or memorialize those who have fought the battle with cancer. This year we want to make this time more personalized by having decorated luminarias. If you would like to purchase a luminaria they are $5 each. We would like for you to join us in the Grady Memorial Hospital on Monday, May 11 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. We will furnish the scissors, glue and bags; you will need to bring the materials to personalize the luminaria. For more information please contact our Luminarias Committee Member Charlotta Atwell at 224-5237. Our local Relay for Life event is set for Friday, June 5th, beginning at 7 p.m.
Lions Pancake
breakfast Saturday
The Chickasha Lions Club hosts its annual Pancake Breakfast this Saturday, May 9 from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Grand Assembly of God Church at 102 East Almar in Chickasha. Tickets are $5 for all you can eat pancakes and sausage including coffee, milk and juice. Children age five and under eat free. This fundraiser helps support Food 4 Kids and other summer youth programs. Used eyeglasses and used computer printer cartridges are appreciated as donations.

True Country will play every Thursday night from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Borden Park Community Center.

Angel Food orders will be taken at the Ninnekah First Baptist Church Tuesday, May 5 through Friday, May 8 from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.. The last day to order is Saturday, May 9 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Food will be distributed on Saturday, May 16 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Some of the May specials available include May Special number one, a six-pound meat assortment consisting of bone-in strip steaks, thick-cut pork chops, bacon-wrapped beef patties and Bratwurst with cheese for $22; May Special number two, featuring eight eight-ounce sirloin strip steaks; and May Special number three which includes two pounds of steak fajita strips, chicken breast fajita strips, onions, bell peppers and flour tortillas for $21. The Chickasha Middle School 8th Grade Promotional Ceremony will take place in the CMS Auditorium at 1000 South 9th st. on May 22 at 1:p.m. Promotion photos will be available for purchase the day of the ceremony. Parents of 8th graders are invited to attend!
Craig Meyer Walk
set for Thursday
The Craig Meyer Memorial Walk for Special Olympics will be held Thursday, May 7 at the High School football/track from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. The cost is $20 which can be paid at the walk. "Come and Go or Come and Stay. Stay as long as you like and walk as much as you want. All proceeds from the walk will go to Chickasha Special Olympics and Special Olympics Oklahoma. hosts benefit run
The 16th annual Chickasha Rotary 5 km Run will be Saturday, May 16 at 8 a.m. at Shanoan Springs Park. The entry fee is $15 with a T-shirt and $12 without. There will be $450 in cash prizes awarded in open class male and female athletes. Proceeds benefit Greater Chickasha Community Project. The annual Postal Carriers Food Drive is Saturday, May 9. Postal customers who would like to donate non-perishable food may leave the items next to your mail box for pick up on Saturday.
Benefit concert set for May 12
The popular rock group Anti-Mortem will perform a benefit concert for Prestin Turpin in the CHS auditorium at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 12. Admission is $3 and all proceeds go to the Turpin famiy.
All Day Musicfest to be held May 9
There will be an all day musicfest held May 9 at the Borden Park Community Center, located 200 N 18th St. in Chickasha. Featured will be Bluegrass, gospel, country, and folk music. Doors open at 9 a.m. and the festival ends at 4:30. For more information call 222-2008.
County Retired Educators to meet
The Grady County Retired Educators will meet at the Best Western Hotel at 10 a.m. on Monday, May 11. Joy Dennis, OREA president will speak to the members. Roy Cates, Central District Director will also be a guest. The installation of next years officers will take place. It is important that retirees be present. The incoming officers need the support of all members.
DAV to meet, hold elections

Ninnekah OHCE
sets bake sale
The Ninnekah OHCE will be holding a bake sale on Friday May 8th in the Petroleum Building in downtown Chickasha. Each year the Ninnekah OHCE donates scholarships to graduating seniors or returning adult students. Among the many items that will be available will be Ninnekah’s famous cinnamon rolls, chocolate and coconut cream pies, carrot cake, Italian Cream cake, sweet breads, yeast breads, cookies, and much more. This will be a perfect opportunity to purchase your special Mother’s Day items. The bake sale will be from 9:00 to 4:00 at 401 W.
