County voters decide several board positions

Grady County voters went to the polls lastweek, electing trustees, council members, school board members and mayors.

In Alex, Carol Sue Adams received more than 78 percent of votes for the board of trustees position with 97 votes. Justin Bailey was a distant second with 16 votes, or 12 percent of votes.

In the Alex School Board election, Aaron Hunter walked away with 115 votes, almost 57 percent of the total vote, with Josh Leatherwood coming in at 43 percent, with 87 votes.

In Verden, Rov Boyer came in with 82 votes for the board of trustees position, followed by Terry Keeton with 49 votes, Dan Jordan with 47 votes and Mike Cool with 18 votes.

In Minco, Susan Hollandsworth took nearly 65 percent of the vote with 116 votes. Wanda Moon came in second with 64 votes.

In Blanchard, voters filled four council seats. Gregory Shupert of ward one received 153 votes, or 72 percent, with Leon Lacy a distant second with 38 votes. In ward three, Bob Hagan took more than 53 percent of the vote with 113 votes. Laura Callahan came in second with 58 votes and Charlie Thompson came in third with 41 votes.

In ward four, Lance Terry was the big winner with more than 87 percent of the vote with 185 votes and Kenneth Riley came in second with 27 votes.

The Blanchard council member at large winner was Mike Ferencich with 144 votes, or 68 percent, and Tom Thomason in second place with 31 percent or 67 votes.

And, as previously reported, Bobby Williams defeated Tom Wilson to become the first elected mayor of Tuttle while Tuttle voters gave approval to a $12.5 million school bond issue.
