Bedlam scramble set for April 18

Chickasha’s Boy Scout Troop 4319 will be putting on a golf tournament as it’s 2009 fundraiser. Cottonwood Creek Golf Couse, 2900 S. 16th in Chickasha, will be hosting this year’s event. Tee off will be at 8 a.m. on Saturday, April 18. The theme for this years fundraiser is a “Bedlam Scramble,” so gather up your favorite OU or OSU golfing buddies and come out to support a great bunch of kids. Entry fees are $30 each or $120 per team. Entry fees include carts and green fees. There will be prizes for best finishes, and of course longest drive and closets to the pin. Ninnekah cheer clinic April 18

The Ninnekah mini cheer clinic will be Saturday, April 18 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Ninnekah gym. The cost is $25 and includes a T-shirt, lunch, and prizes. Entry forms and money are needed by April 14. Call Angie at 224-4092 for more details.



CHS pom/cheer sets tryout clinics

All girls interested in trying out will need to meet with a parent at the activity center at 6:30 p.m. for a Parents Meeting on Monday, April 20. There will be a free clinic April 25 at the High School practice gym from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. taught by OSU cheerleaders and all star instructors for instruction in cheer, jump techniques and stretching. The tryout clinics will begin Sunday, April 26 from 2-4 p.m. Pom will meet at the CHS Activity Center and Cheer At High School Practice Gym for the entire week. For Monday and Tuesday Cheer clinic will meet from 3-5 p.m. and Pom clinic will meet from 4-6:30 p.m. Tryout day will be Wednesday, April 29 starting at 3 p.m.



Arts Council meets Monday

The regular meeting of the Chickasha Area Arts Council is Monday, April 13, at 6:30 p.m. It will be held in the Community Room of the First National Bank, 3rd and Chickasha Ave. Enter on the north side. A major agenda item is an update on the plans for the Rock Island Arts Festival, a new CAAC-sponsored community event to be held in downtown Chickasha on Oct. 2-3. A few of the other agenda items include reports on CAAC and Vision Chickasha, upgrading the CAAC website and revising the CAAC membership brochure.All Arts Council members and others who have ideas and are interested in promoting the arts and cultural events in the community are invited and encouraged to attend. Music show to benefit Slawson

There will be a Music and Comedy Show, featuring some of the top talent in Oklahoma, on April 18 at 6 p.m. at Vimmy Ridge Church Fellowship Hall located five miles east of Rush Springs on the left side. The show will feature Search for Star Winners Kassie Murrillo and Rylee Rich, Texoma’s Most Talented Kid winner Kara Hawkins, and the Glory Bound Quartet: Audrey Clark, Mary Rainey, Daphney Limm and Joe Slawson. This is a benefit show for Mary Slawson to help out with extended illness expenses. The cost of the show is by donation only. There will be a silent and live auction as well.



P.E.O. meeting place changed

The meeting place for the P.E.O. Chapter CR has been changed. The meeting will be at the home of Cookie Wilkins. We will meet at the usual 1 p.m. time. Diana Brown will give the program.



AAUW meets

on April 14

The Chickasha Branch of the American Association of University Women will hold a meeting on Tuesday, April 14 at 7 p.m. at the Chickasha Public Library. Faye Henson, Oklahoma AAUW Co-President, will present a program on "Pay Equity.” Pay equity for women is still a major issue in today's world. Diamond Miss Pageant April 18

Our Diamond Miss Youth Achievement Program will be held on Saturday April, 18 at 11 a.m. in the Borden Park Community Center in Chickasha. Ages are Babies 0-35 months and Youth 2-19 years. Up to $100 in cash to Supreme Youth and $100 cash for Supreme Baby. There will be winners in modeling, talent, photogenic, and other categories. Pioneer School

to hold fundraiser

Pioneer Elementary School will hold a bake sale and silent auction from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 18 at the Chickasha Wal-Mart All proceeds will go to the school.



Dibble plans

The Dibble High School Reunion for all alumni and former students hosted by the class of 1959 will be held April 25, beginning at 2 p.m. in the high school cafeteria. Ninnekah Pre-K pre-enrollment set

Pre-enrollment for children who are eligible to begin Pre-Kindergarten in August, 2009 will be held at Ninnekah Elementary School April 16 from 3:30 p.m. through 5:30 p.m. Eligible children are those who will be four years old on or before Sept. 1, 2009. Parents are asked to bring a copy of the child’s birth certificate, social security card and immunization record. The birth certificate must be an official copy from the Department of Vital Statistics. Your child is welcome to come and meet our Pre-Kindergarten teacher.



All day Musicfest program set

There will be an all day musicfest program on April 11 from 9 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. at the Boren Park Community Center, located at 200 N. 18th Street in Chickasha. Featured music will be bluegrass, gospel, country, and folk. There will be coffee and donuts at 9 a.m. and donations are accepted. The next musicfest will be held on May 9. Elks Lodge to host breakfast

On Saturday, April 25, the Chickasha Elks Lodge will hold a pancake/sausage breakfast. This benefit will be to help little Beau McKenna of Tuttle. Beau is the 16 month old son of Justin and Amber McKenna and little brother to 4- and-a-half year old sister Anabelle. Beau was born with Cerebral Palsy and is trying hard to walk. The special walker he needs to strengthen his legs is very expensive, at approximately $4,000. There will be a silent auction, which includes OU and OSU memorabilia. Cost is $4 and will be served from 7 a.m. until 12 noon. Deliveries to local business will be made by calling 224-3205.



OHCE Style

Show set

The annual Grady County OHCE Style show will be held Tuesday, April 14 at 6:30 p.m. at the Canadian Valley Technology Center. This is an annual event where the OHCE members, their family members and friends model the items that they have constructed during the past year. The theme of the show is "Fitting Pieces into Fashion" and will include children's garments, sportswear, best dress, embellished garments and accessories. The public is invited to attend. There is no admission and there will be door prizes and refreshments
