Bring your daughter to library’s storytime

To the editor,
I just read your editorial about your daughter and Blue’s Clues. It was wonderful. As you pointed out, letting your daughter see you read is just about as important as reading to her.  When she gets to be about 2 years old, please bring her to the Library on Wednesday mornings at 10 a.m. for Story Time.  The Children’s Librarian “Miss Lillie” Huckaby reads a story to the children, leads them in a game, and helps them make a craft item.  This program lasts about 30 minute and caregivers are required to stay with their children and are encougaged to participate. I know your daughter would enjoy it and we would enjoy meeting her.
Kids learn early that the Library is the Book Place.  Miss Huckaby recently told me a story about a 2-year old who is a regular at Story Time.  As he and his grandmother were driving downtown and passed the Library, he yelled “Stop!”.  She did.  He then added “Book! Book!”  He is certainly going to grow up to enjoy reading!
