Love’s raises $163,000 for Children’s Hospital Foundation in Oklahoma City

— Love’s Travel Stops raised more than $163,000 for Children’s Hospital Foundation through Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals  during their annual five-week fundraising campaign.

More than 290 Love’s locations nationwide contributed by selling paper donation hearts in the amounts of $1, $5, and $20 to benefit 89 member Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.

Several locations also held fundraising events to get their communities involved. Love’s in Fairview held a community dinner, while Love’s in south Oklahoma City had a cookout, car wash and bake sale. Love’s in Elk City raised an astonishing $24,000 during a golf tournament. Love’s in Guthrie hosted “Miracle Day” which included a cookout, a moon bounce, dunk tanks and more. Other fundraising events included bake sales, car washes, pumping gas for tips.

General managers across the state got creative by offering to take pies in the face for a donation, promising their store teams they would shave their head if they raised enough money, volunteering to get dunked in a dunk tank and one, Mike Young in south Oklahoma City, dressed like a hula girl to encourage customers to donate to Children’s Hospital Foundation.

“It is remarkable what customers and team members can accomplish together to make miracles happen for kids and their families,” said Tom Love, founder and CEO of Love’s Travel Stops.

“We are extremely proud of our store teams for raising a record amount for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. We appreciate our customers’ generosity in supporting our annual fundraising campaign,” he said.

Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals is an international non-profit organization dedicated to helping children by raising funds and awareness while keeping 100 percent of donations in the community where they are raised.  Children’s Hospital Foundation is a proud affiliate of CMN Hospitals and is dedicated to providing funding for pediatric programs in research, education and clinical care for Oklahoma’s children.

This is Love’s 14th year supporting Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals with a fundraising campaign. The company has donated more than $7 million nationwide through the years.

“Each year the Love’s teams come up with new ingenious ways to raise substantial money and this year they hit new heights,” said Jan Dunham, CMN Hospitals Director.

“We know it is a lot of work for team members to orchestrate such a hugely successful campaign, and we are so extremely thankful for their accomplishment in a record breaking year.  We want to applaud Love’s Travel Stops’ teams, their customers and the Love family for their heart and determination to help the sick children of Oklahoma.”
