Amber-Pocasset FFA Wins State FFA Agricultural Sales Career Development Event

STILLWATER, Okla. — Members of the Amber-Pocasset FFA Chapter won first place in the State FFA Agricultural Sales Career Development event during the 2014 Oklahoma FFA Career Development Events at Oklahoma State University on April 26.
Team members were Suzanne Parker, Tyler Miller, Triston Herron, and Alexis Hood. Parker received first individual honors, while Miller, Herron and Hood placed second, third and fourth, respectively.
This team will represent Oklahoma at the National FFA Agricultural Sales Career Development Event at the National FFA Convention in October. The chapter’s agricultural education instructor and FFA adviser is Billy Scott.
The marketing of agricultural products is key to profitability in today’s competitive economy. This contest provides students with the opportunity to prepare for sales careers by participating in realistic sales and business activities. Participants must compete an exam, participate in a team activity and participate in an individual activity.
The OSU College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources and the Department of Agricultural Economics hosted the contest. Pinpoint Monograms and the Oklahoma FFA Alumni Association will provide a cash award to the team for expenses related to participating in the national contest.
FFA is an integral part of the Agricultural Education Division in Oklahoma’s CareerTech system. With nearly 25,000 members, the Oklahoma FFA Association is the fifth-largest state FFA association.
