4-H, OHCE members are ready for County Fair

The Grady County Free Fair is scheduled for Aug. 21-23, 2008, at the Grady County Fairgrounds. Over the past year, 4-H club members and OHCE members throughout our county have been preparing for this week. With 4-H projects that range from Geology to Fashion and Fabrics to a new division entitled “Oklahoma 4-H Centennial”, 4-Hers are excited to show off their achievements to the public.

The variety of 4-H events at the county fair include member project exhibits of technology, science & discovery, photography, food science, fashions & fabrics; livestock judging, and horse competitions. Through preparing and showcasing their talents, these events offer our youth with the exceptional learning experiences needed to build self-confidence and maturity. But most of all, 4-Hers enjoy entertaining and educating the community about 4-H and its many projects.

The Oklahoma 4-H Centennial is scheduled for 2009. In 2008, 4-H members have the opportunity to showcase 4-H life over the past 100 years. A division has been created to feature Oklahoma 4-H as it has changed through the last century. An alumni division is also available for former 4-H members to exhibit collections and memorabilia. For a complete listing of these classes, please consult the Fair guidelines available at the Grady County Extension Service at 828 W. Choctaw in Chickasha.
