Local OHCE members enjoy ‘day at the beach’

The OHCE Summer Council met June 23 at the Grady County Fairgrounds. Decorations by Rural Neighbors truly made it a “day at the beach” with sea-blue tablecloths adorned with multi-colored sea shells, aquatic figurines and fish bowls greeting members as they entered the meeting area.

Cheerful, sunny colors abounded in wide-brimmed straw hats, beach umbrellas, thongs, shorts, sunglasses, capris, Hawaiian shirts, seashell jewelry, sandals, sand buckets and beach towels gaily worn or carried by members.

The business meeting, reports, door prizes, new-member recognition and awarding of scholarships moved quickly, then all enjoyed a delicious, beautifully-presented meal prepared by the Lucile-Blue Bonnet Club, assisted by Rural Neighbors.

Members finished the day sampling unique, healthy and great-tasting salsa prepared by Ranel Lasley, extension FCS educator of Caddo County.

What more could one ask for than a day on the beach in Oklahoma in June with a meal graciously prepared and served?
