CHICKASHA - Krista Kenney Bailey, of Chickasha, who suffers from a rare genetic liver disease, is in immediate need of a kidney/liver transplant.

Bailey’s hopes of having her brothers donate were dashed after finding out they had high blood pressure and could not be donors.

“Krista has only two or three months to live,” said her mother Jan Bailey. “Maybe blood transfusions will allow her a couple of months longer to live.”

After a recent dental procedure, Krista’s gums began to bleed and doctors were unable to stop the bleeding. She was hospitalized as a result and received a transfusion of four pints of blood.

Two donors are now being considered, but it is not known whether they will match all three criteria for transplant, which are blood type, tissue and antibodies.

“We need a compatible donor and if you would like the blessing of saving someone’s life, please step up,” said Jan. “We are nearing the end and we are getting desperate, we sure need some help from the community.”

Donors must have either Type A or Type O blood (negative or positive).

Donations for the Krista Kenney Bailey Medical Assistance Fund may be made to any First National Bank and Trust Co. location, including Chickasha, Minco, Rush Springs, Blanchard, Newcastle and Tuttle. In addition, there are collection jars in about 10 locations in Chickasha.
