— Funeral service for Gerald Ray Grimes, 67, of Chickasha, Oklahoma will be held at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, January 29, 2011 at the First Baptist Church, Chickasha.

Gerald Ray Grimes was born March 31, 1943 in Hobart, Oklahoma the son of Robert M. and Trual N. (Atchley) Grimes.  He died January 26, 2011 at his home.

Gerald attended school in Hobart until he moved to Chickasha in 1956. He graduated from Chickasha High School in 1961. Gerald attended Oklahoma State Tech in Okmulgee and received his Associates Degree in Auto Mechanics in 1963.  He went to work for Wards Chevrolet in Stillwater before moving back to Chickasha in 1964 to work for Hays Thompson Chevrolet-Cadillac. At one time, he was the youngest service manager in Oklahoma.  He worked in the automotive industry since then in Chickasha and briefly in Duncan. Gerald was the General Manager of Don Martin Chevrolet-Cadillac in the early 1980’s until he opened Gerald Grimes Motor Company in 1985.

He married Sherry Harrison on October 5, 1963. He was saved and baptized at the First Baptist Church in Hobart. He was ‘Poppa’ to Gage Harrison Grimes, Kanaan Brock Cremer, Jonah Kade Cremer and was looking forward to a new grandchild in September.

Gerald was preceded in death by: Parents, In-laws: Finis and Bonnie Harrison, Stepfather: Jesse Salter.

Survivors include: his wife, Sherry Grimes of the home; 1 son and daughter-in-law: Brent and Amanda Grimes of Chickasha, 1 daughter and son-in-law: Angie and John Cremer of Chickasha, 1 brother: Bob and Pat Grimes of Kent, WA, 1 sister: Marty and Jim Hughes of Tuttle, OK, Grandchildren: Gage Harrison Grimes, Kanaan Brock Cremer, Jonah Kade Cremer, and one due September 2011. Nieces and nephews.

Interment will be in the Rush Springs Cemetery under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home.
