Two men are facing charges in connection with the shooting at America's Best Inn last Thursday.
Jeremy Willis is being charged with assault and battery with a deadly weapon and possession of a firearm after formal conviction of a felony.
Eric Chance Fuller is being charged with trafficking in illegal drugs and possession of a firearm after formal conviction of a felony.
When Chickasha Police Officers arrived at the America's Best Inn on Dec. 7, they found Austin Brooks with a gunshot to his neck, according to an incident report. Brooks told officers he was unaware of who shot him, the report said.
Brooks was transported to the OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City.
Officers performed a search of the room. No persons were located but officers found a small pool of blood on the floor and the curtains appeared to be torn, the report said. A shell casing from a .380 caliber pistol was also located. A Chickasha Police Officer also located a bag containing a white substance consistent with possible methamphetamine and paraphernalia associated with the use of illegal narcotics and what appeared to be Xanax pills, the report said.
The motive at this time appears to be drug related, according to Lt. Scott Weaver, CPD Public Information Officer.
