Police: 'Gypsy Wedding' couple stole rings, cash at wedding

HIGH POINT, N.C. — A couple who appeared on the TLC reality series “My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding” was jailed in North Carolina last weekend, accused of stealing cash and valuables from the bride and groom at a wedding they were attending.

According to a report from the High Point (N.C.) Police Department, Elvis Allen Boswell, 24, and his wife, Eden Brianna Boswell, 22, are charged with felony larceny after an incident at a wedding in which Eden Boswell was to serve as the maid of honor.

“Someone notices Eden slip out with the bride’s purse,” said Capt. Mike Kirk of the High Point Police Department, “and somebody tells somebody else what they saw.”

According to Kirk, a confrontation ensued and police were called. When officers arrived, he said, the Boswells had locked their keys in their truck.

“They said somebody was on the way to bring them a spare key,” Kirk said, “but we were able to unlock it.”

He said the bride’s purse, the couple’s wedding rings and some cash designated for the honeymoon were discovered in the truck. Kirk added that officers patted down Elvis Boswell and discovered more cash with writing on it indicating it was also part of the honeymoon cash.

“As you can imagine, everybody was a little upset,” Kirk said.

The couple was placed under arrest, and Kirk said that during the incident, Eden Boswell “indicated they were on season two of ‘My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding.’ We came back to the station, googled it, and lo and behold.”

As of Tuesday, the Boswells were in the Guilford County Jail in Greensboro, N.C. Bond was set at $6,100, “which was the total value of the items they had stolen,” according to the police report.

Information for this story was reported by the Bluefield (W. Va.) Daily Telegraph.
