HIV suspect held on $1 million bond

Women, girls urged to get HIV test

CHICKASHA — A 23-year-old Chickasha man jailed here in lieu of a $1 million bond will be back in Grady County District Court on amended felony charges, including three counts of second-degree rape, two counts of assault and battery with a deadly weapon and two counts of knowingly intending to transfer the HIV virus.

The amended charges were filed Thursday against Chris F. Sylve. He is presently in the Grady County Jail.

Sylve tested HIV positive in October 2005, according to court documents. He is alleged to have had unprotected sex with an unknown number of women and girls since then.

The rape charges stem from a sexual relationship with a then-14-year-old girl over a two-month period last summer.

District Attorney Jason Hicks said authorities know of at least one child who was fathered by Sylve and was born with full-blown AIDS.

Anyone who has had sexual contact with Sylve since 2005 is urged to contact their doctor or the Grady County Health Department to get tested for HIV.
