CHICKASHA — Today marks the first day of what should be the most important season in every Oklahoman’s life, the beginning of the new session of the Oklahoma State legislature.
At noon today, members of the state house and senate convened to start their discussion on multiple bills that could potentially change drug, education and criminal policies in Oklahoma. Information on every proposed bill in this session can be found here.
Given today’s technology there is no reason any Oklahoman should go through this legislative session uninformed. We will work to bring you any news on legislation that will affect Grady County and Oklahomans alike. Despite this, I do want to emphasize the importance of the electorate’s interest in these proceedings.
Only the citizens of Oklahoma can hold our representatives accountable for their actions and votes.
So as basketball season makes its way past the halfway point and baseball prepares to begin, I hope all Oklahomans will take some time to pay attention to the decisions made by our representatives. They are, after all, our representatives, and only a discerning and interested citizenry will manage to affect a positive change that propels Oklahoma into the future.
