65th Wedding Anniversary

Sammy and Lillian Morgan celebrate 65 years together

— Sammy and Lillian Morgan celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary on Saturday, Nov. 10, 2012 with a family dinner at the Outback Steakhouse in Norman. Their children: Michael and Wanda Morgan of Montgomery, Texas; Gregory and Sharon Ray of McLoud; Ton and Kimberly Morgan of Choctaw; Karen Monk of Norman and Lonnie and Mae Morgan of Chickasha, along with several grandchildren and a great granddaughter, hosted the anniversary dinner.

The couple married on Nov. 12, 1947 in Chickasha and have made their home in Chickasha.  Sam and Lillian met shortly after Sam returned from serving  in the U.S. Army.

Sam's first job, following his service to our country, was working for a contractor of Bell Telephone Co. framing and installing telephone poles in several rural areas of Chickasha. Afterwards, Sam was employed by General Seismograph in Ardmore; Tinker AFB from 1951 - 1954 where he resigned to work for Jenkins Appliance Company in sales and service in Chickasha.

The business was sold by the owner and Sam and a co-worker joined in a partnership and started a sales and service named Appliance Service Center.

Sam later returned to Tinker AFB in 1961 and retired Nov. 28, 1986 on his birthday.

Lillian resigned from Bell Telephone Co. in 1957 and was homemaker until 1963. She returned until 1963. She returned to work part-time in Chickasha at Oklahoma College of Liberal Arts. She retired in 1968.

Sam and Lillian Morgan are active members of Bible Baptist Church in Chickasha. The couple has 13 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
