50th Anniversary

— The family of A.C. and Virginia (Wheeler) Hays will host a reception to celebrate their 50th anniversary of marriage. All friends and family are invited to attend the come and go event on Saturday, March 26 from 1-3 p.m. at Parkview Christian Church, 2828 S. 9 in Chickasha. The couple's daughter, Melissa and her husband, Maj. Michael Evon, USAF, Shiloh, Ill. along with their son, Hayden invite the community  to share their memories with A.C and Virginia.

A.C., the son of the late Alonzo and Cleo Hays, attended Friend Elementary, high school and OSU Tech before entering the U.S. Army and serving in Germany for two years.  Virginia attended middle school and high school in Lovington, NM and Central State University in Edmond. A.C. and Virginia met in Lovington, NM where she worked as a secretary for the Lovington Field Services and A.C. worked for Halliburton. The couple's employers were  located across the street  from one another.They met on a blind date and were married at the Methodist Church in Lovington.

A.C. and Virginia relocated to Texas in the 1960's and after living 18 years (1979 - 1996) in Mustang, both transferred to Chickasha in 1996 for their jobs. A.C. continues to work part-time for Standley Systems in Chickasha, after 20 years of service. Virginia retired from Wal-Mart in 2005 after 13 years of service.

They are lifetime members of the Girl Scouts USA and were Girl Scout volunteers for 35 years serving Girls Scouts Sooner Council in Chickasha in many leadership positions for the council before Sooner Council merged with Redlands Council, Oklahoma City to become Girl Scout Western Oklahoma. A.C and Virginia have been members of the Parkview Christian Church since 1998 and continue to be active in church programs.
