Reception set to honor Rush Springs couple

— Harry and Jean Funk of Rush Springs will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a reception planned for Saturday, the seventh of May, from two to four o’clock in the afternoon in the Family Life Center at the Southern Baptist Church of Rush Springs.

Hosting the affair are the couple’s children.

Harry Funk and the former Jean Wyrick were married on May 16, 1961, in Lawton and have lived in Rush Springs for most of their married life. They are members of the Southern Baptist Church.

Jean was born in Rush Springs and attended school there, graduating in 1959. She retired at age 62 and now enjoys spending time with her family, as well as sewing and quilting.

Harry was born in Rowlesburg, West Virginia, and attended school in that community. He graduated in 1956; and, joining the United States Army in 1959, he served his country three and one-half years. He had worked at Chickasha Manufacturing in Chickasha and Cline’s Manufacturing in Rush Springs. Harry retired at age 50. He enjoys rocking his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, spending time with his cattle, and working in his shop.

The Funks’ children and their spouses include Donnie and Stephanie Funk, Becky and Douglas Childress, and Jenifer and Keith Collier, all of Rush Springs; and Jennie and James Woods of Broken Bow. They have also been blessed with 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Family members and friends are invited to help Harry and Jean celebrate this important milestone in their lives. The couple requests no gifts, please. The presence of their guests is their gift.
