Chamberlains to celebrate 50th Anniversary this December

Ed and Jean Chamberlain will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on Dec. 21, 2007.

They were married on Dec. 21, 1957 at Windsor Park Baptist Church in Corpus Christi, Texas.

Ed had moved to Corpus Christi from Kansas City, Kansas and Jean had moved from Baltimore, Maryland. They lived on the same street where they met, after Ed had returned from the service.

Ed attended Del Mar College and the University of Texas then served in the Seabees during the Korean War. He then returned to school and graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree from Texas A&I College in Kingsville, Texas in May of 1958.

After their marriage, they lived in Ingleside, Texas where Ed taught high school math and was an assistant coach. In June 1961, Ed accepted a job with the Social Security Administration and they moved to Houston. After moving back to Corpus Christi, and back to Houston, Ed was made the Branch Manager in Chickasha, where they have lived since July 1973. Ed retired in June 1991 after 30 years of government service. Jean retired in 1998 after working 22 years for the Chickasha Public Schools.

Ed and Jean have two sons, Charles and wife Melanie of Marlow, and James and wife Amy of Ninnekah. They have four grandchildren, with Blake and Brittany living in Marlow and Parker and Ethan living in Ninnekah.

Since retirement, Ed and Jean have continued to be active in Epworth United Methodist Church where Ed sings in the choir and teaches Sunday school. Jean has been active in the various women’s groups. Ed is also active in the Chickasha Rotary Club, Mobile Meals and coffee time at Liberty Drug Store. Jean is active in P.E.O. and with the Retired Educators and Support Personnel.

Ed and Jean love to travel, eat out, read and attend musical events, but spending time with their grandchildren is their main love.

They plan to celebrate their anniversary at the Skirvin Hotel in Oklahoma City.
