Ledfords celebrate 50th anniversary this December

Teddy Ray Ledford and Eutahona Carol Dotter were married December 21, 1957 in the Trinity Baptist Church by the Reverend Jack Stuart, Chickasha, Oklahoma.
Ted first met Eutohona when she was five years old in Freedom, OK. He was visiting his soon to be stepmother, Betty Ferguson.
Ted’s family moved to Chickasha in 1956 and Eutahoma’s family moved here in 1957. Eutohona’s father went to work for Ted’s father doing road construction work.
Ted wanted to marry Eutohona so he asked her mother. She sent him to ask her dad who said, no, he thought Eutohona was too young, but to ask her mother again. So again he asked her mother and she finally said yes.
After they were married they moved around a lot. Ted worked for his dad’s construction company.
In August of 1960 they bought their first home here in Chickasha.
Mother’s Day May 14, 1967 they both accpeted the Lord Jesus as their Savior. September 19. 1971 Ted was ordained Deacon in the Chickasha Free Will Baptist Church by Reverend J.C. Morgan. They are now members of Hawkins Free Will Baptist Church. Ted is very active in the church, but due to health issues, Eutohona is limited to what she can do.
After Ted’s dad retired, he worked for his brother Donnie until in 1980 he decided to go out on his own. Buying his friend Cecil Gibson’s backhoe and truck, he started Ted Ledford Backhoe Service. He still enjoys operating his backhoe. Ted also enjoys fishing and is well known for his ability to catch fish too.
Ted and Eutohona have two sins and one daughter: daughter Donald Lee and wife Sue, Shawn Ray and wife La Dawn, Latahona Rae and husband Larry Pyle.
They have 12 grandchildren: Torri Loffer, Taylor James Ledford, Seth Cudd, Katrina Johnson, Jason Ledford, Amber Simmons, Trista Ledford, Austin Baker, Misty England, Summer Bratcher, Dustin Roper, and Tabitha Roper.
They have 6 great-grandchildren: Noah and Chloe Loffer, Taylen and Abbey Ledford, Nate Johnson and Ariauanna Wiliams.
Their children held a reception for them December 1, 2007 at the Best Western Banquet Room. They enjoyed it very much, seeing family and friends come by to congratulate them and revisit the past.
Eutohona is always telling Ted she sees now why he wanted to get married December 21-that is his birthday so he would only have one date to remember and wouldn’t forget it was their anniversary.
They want to thank their children for their hard work and thoughtfulness. It will always be a sweet, wonderful memory.
