Published December 03, 2007 12:34 pm - Dale and Dorothy Fern (Harmon) Cassel of El Reno celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2007 at a reception held by their children at the Wesley United Methodist Church Family Life Center in El Reno.

Cassels celebrate 50th



Dale and Dorothy Fern (Harmon) Cassel of El Reno celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2007 at a reception held by their children at the Wesley United Methodist Church Family Life Center in El Reno.

They were married on Nov. 28, 1957 at the Dutton Methodist Church, seven miles west of Pocasset.

The couple has three children, David Allen Cassel and wife Rhonda, Deborah Ann Baker and husband Kenneth, and Dana Alexa Hope and husband Teddy Don.

Their grandchildren are Dustin Cassel, Darren Cassel and Daniel Cassel; Jordan Baker and Kenna Maria Baker; Anna Hope Melissa Hope and Jessica Hope.

Dale, a graduate of Verden High School is also a graduate of Oklahoma State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in animal science. Dorothy, a graduate of Pocasset High School also graduated from Mercy School of Nursing as a Registered Nurse.

Now retired, Dale worked for the Bureau of Indian Affairs in Concho; he served as Land Operations Officer employed with the U. S. Department of Agriculture, Upstream Flood Control, Chickasha, engineering survey party; U. S. Department of Agriculture special service division, grain warehouse examiner, Omaha, Neb.; U. S. Department of Agriculture, Soil Conservation Service, Wewoka, Farm Planner; BIA, Geary and Weatherford as soil conservationist. He is presently self-employed at Cassel Appraisal and Tax Service.

He was a past master of the Geary Masonic Lodge and past secretary of the El Reno Masonic Lodge. He served on various committees of the Wesley Methodist Church and is currently president of the local chapter of the National Active and Retired Federal Employee Association. He is also second Vice President of the Oklahoma Federation and serves as treasurer of the El Reno Investment Club.

Dorothy has worked as a Registered Nurse in hospitals in Omaha, Neb. and Wewoka, the Geary Nursing Home, South Community Hospital in Oklahoma City, Home Health Parkview Hospital, and Park View Hospital. She retired from nursing after serving as El Reno School Nurse.

She is past president of the United Methodist Women; served on various committees of the United Methodist Church; and is past president of the Senior Citizen Center of El Reno. She is currently serving as Service Officer of the local chapter of the National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association and also as the Oklahoma State Federation Service Officer. She is also past president of the Oklahoma Silver Haired Legislature.
