Winslows to celebrate 50th wedding anniversary in December
Jim and Sue Winslow of Chickasha will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on Saturday, Dec. 22, 2007. They celebrated with a tour of the California Gold Coast with Tauck Tours. An additional celebratory evening is planned with their children.
The couple met while attending college at Rhodes College in Memphis. They married Dec. 22, 1957 at Lewis Memorial Methodist Church in Calhoun City, Miss. Both Jim and Sue graduated from the University of Tennessee, Jim with his medical doctorate degree and Sue with a degree in medical technology. Jim completed his residency in Orthopedic Surgery at the Campbell Clinic in Memphis. After the completion of Jim’s residency, the couple spent two years in Biloxi in the Air Force before moving to Tulsa.
Jim was a founding physician in Eastern Oklahoma Orthopedic Center in Tulsa. In 1974, he joined Oral Roberts University as the founding Dean of the medical school. He also served as the Chief Executive Officer of the City of Faith Medical Center.
In 1988, Jim and Sue moved to Chickasha where Jim practiced orthopedics at Southern Plains Medical Center and Grady County Hospital until his retirement in 2005. In his retirement, Jim completed a Master’s Degree in medical management at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburg, Pa. He is currently Executive Medical Director for Community Partners LLC, a hospital management company in Tulsa.
For a number of years, Sue showed Performance Quarter Horses in the Oklahoma Quarter Horse Association and the American Quarter Horse Association. She is now pursuing her Master’s Degree in spiritual direction and leadership at Spring Arbor University in Spring Arbor, Mich.
Jim and Sue are active members of Epworth United Methodist Church and serve and have served in numerous community activities. They enjoy playing golf together and retreating to their mountain home in Colorado with their family and friends.
Jim and Sue have three children, Leigh Anderson and husband Rick of Bixby, James Winslow of Oklahoma City and Robert Winslow and wife Kathy of Norman. They have seven grandchildren, Katie, Kristen, Jay and Robbie Anderson of Bixby and Lauren, Nathan and Luke Winslow of Norman.
